In the autumn 2006 I was in Poland to do a Shohin workshop and demo at Ogrody bonsai. In the search for demo material at the nursery I stumbled over this Acer ginella, which I decided to bring home. The kind Mr. Marek Gajda, gave it to me as a gift.
It was necessary to repot it right away, because it was packed with only the root ball, and no pot. It fitted in a nice pot already, so I repotted it without touching the roots at all.
In late winter it will be pruned back and wired to make the first basic shape.
Also a repotting is in consideration, in order to remove the old claylike soil that is part of the present soil mixture.
Originally this tree was propagated by seed. After seven years of growth at the ground, it was potted in a container.
The following years branches was let to grow and after a while they where cut back. This way a nice fat and short trunk has
been developed.
