Shortening leaf
stalks
Early spring
removing of the
thin protecting layer of stalk sheet at the base of the
leaves, causes the stalks to dry early when the winter
protection layer is gone. It is a very important technique
to Mame and Shohin-Bonsai, and slows the growth and keeps
the leaf stalks shorter.
The sheets can be removed with the help of a pair of tweezers.
