Shohin-bonsai in Denmark
The Danish Bonsai Association is the national foundation, gathering the bonsai enthusiasts of Denmark. As part of the yearly show, demos are carried out by both national and international well known artists.
In recent years the quality has increased to a much higher level, and Danish bonsai are now closer to the best in Europe.
Shohin
An growing number of enthusiasts have also turned their eye on
shohin. On the yearly show an increasing number of good quality Shohins are exhibited, including mame-bonsai as well.
Denmark is a very good place to find species for Shohin. A big number of nurseries, old gardens, and of course nature itself, provides possibilities for collecting plants of high value to Shohin growers.
Local workgroups
As in other countries the national foundation also provides a number of local working groups, which takes care of helping newbie’s and making local exhibitions and more.
My own activities include a job as judge at the national exhibition, and a lot of advising including demonstrations and workshops. Both at meetings, but also a big part is done through the Internet.
I am also
taking part of a national private group of enthusiasts, but i am specialy enjoying a monthly meeting with two of my bonsai-friends.
